Omar's Adventure

from Distant Love (No Telephone) by Jumping Fences

/

lyrics

Omar went one Sunday to a sleepy fishing port
He walked onto the jetty to see what had been caught
What could he see, to make him smile?

Omar felt so restless he couldn’t sleep at night
He really wanted something to change his ordered life
What was his dream, what burns inside?

So one night he slipped away to that sleepy fishing port
and found a boat to take him to the places that he sought
The sparkling sea, the ocean’s swell

So he makes his escape for some lucky break
but what will he leave behind,
Will he ever find what he can imagine
but who could imagine what he’ll find

Omar left a note but then there was no word
No-one knew what happened, no-one ever heard
Where did he go, what did he see?

Back home their life is peaceful, there’s no Penelope
waiting by her window unravelling tapestry...
But sometimes they wonder
Where is he now, why did he leave?

So he makes his escape for some lucky break
but what does he leave behind,
Will he ever find what he can imagine
but who could imagine what he’ll find

Omar went one Sunday to a sleepy fishing port
He walked onto the jetty and found that he'd been caught
